The A4919 is a three-phase controller for use with N-channel external power MOSFETs. A unique charge pump regulator provides full (>10 V) gate drive for battery voltages down to 7 V and will allow the A4919 to operate with a reduced gate drive down to 5.5 V. This product improves reliability with robust transient immunity in battery operated applications which saves external protection circuitry, reducing PCB size and reducing overall cost.
One logic level input is provided for each of the six power MOSFETs in the 3-phase bridge, allowing motors to be driven with any commutation scheme defined by an external controller. The power MOSFETs are protected from cross-conduction by integrated crossover control. Motor phase short to supply and short to ground detection is provided by independent drain-source voltage monitors on each FET. Short faults, supply under-voltage, and chip over temperature conditions are indicated by a single open drain fault output.
Product variants incorporating a low drop out (LDO) regulator to source either 5.0V or 3.3V to external circuitry are available. Those providing a 5.0V output are differentiated by a ‘-5’ part number suffix and 3.3V by ‘-3’.
The A4919 is supplied in a 28-pin TSSOP power package with an exposed thermal pad (package type LP) as well as a 28-pin QFN with an exposed thermal pad (package type ET) will be available in March 2018. Both packages are available in lead (Pb) free versions, with 100% matte tin lead frame plating (suffix –T).
